Our Very First Lunchbot Bento!

I've really really really been wanting a Lunchbot box and decided at the end of last week I had to have one.

So like any rational person, I called all over the Metroplex until I found a store that had the one I wanted in stock and was willing to hold it for me. Of course, said store was about 30 minutes from my house, but only minutes from Shaun's office, so my lovely husband stopped by to get it for me!

It's beautiful, stainless steel with a lovely orange lid and a tiny little divider to separate it in half (for the record, I went with the Duo, Shaun thought the Pico, my other choice on hold, seemed more snack sized than lunch sized for the kids).

For our first Lunchbot lunch, I went with a turkey & cheese sandwich on Nature's Own Multigrain sandwich thins, topped with a pretty layered cheese flower (so simple, I use Wilton fondant cutters and keep swapping the middles). On that side of the box are a few pretzels, celery and carrots. The right side of the box holds half a boiled egg, blackberries, half a pluot, bits of cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, and two cucumber flowers.

Just a sweet, simple little lunch for Miss Faith, who is now a huge fan of the pluot and her little Lunchbot box.

  7. @Amanda, there were a bunch listed on the website, but the only one that answered the phone and actually knew what I was talking about was called "Life is Good" in Southlake (my husband works at KW Southlake, so it was right down the street from his office). It's on Southlake Blvd East, next to Central Market.

@Snowflowers Mum, they are food picks that a bento friend sent me. I believe she got them in Hawaii.

  9. Shannon - I was just about to comment and tell you that I saw these this weekend at the Life is Good store in Southlake. What a small world! (I live in Keller which is 15 minutes from there.) I think the store is called Jake's Loft, or at least used to be. I do have to admit I found all of the boxes to be too small for me, but maybe for a kid lunch the big one would be OK. Guess so since that's what you got.

PS - even though it's only my second comment, I've been reading for awhile. I think the settings on my work computer disabled the comment box altogether, but somehow it seems to be working now!

  10. Looks delicious!!! I love the cucumber flowers! I've been debating whether or not to get a lunchbot, they are a little on the pricey side here but we do have a store locally that stocks them. Decisions decisions :D

  12. I'd agree with Shaun that the Pico is more snack-sized. We use it in conjunction with the other things in their lunch boxes - a wrap-n-mat for their sandwich, a Kids Konserve with leakproof lid for yogurt, etc. Beautiful lunch! I need to make more flower-shaped cheese...
