BlogHer, Me, and a Chance to Win

This is a compensated review by BlogHer.

We're still enjoying our Christmas holidays in Canada, visiting with my family, enjoying lots of yummy home cooked food, but not a whole lot of bentos. I did get a really awesome cookbook for Christmas, so I promise some good stuff coming soon.

But until then, I'd love to invite you to check out some of my favorite parts of BlogHer. BlogHer is an advertising network for women that I've been a part of for several years right now. They've given me some great opportunities to network with talented bloggers, work with great brands, and more. I am hoping, this year, that I'll be able to head to BlogHer Food conference in Atlanta, and/or BlogHer 2011 in San Diego.

I've been blessed to work on several of their Exclusive Offers and partner with brands. Our family, along with 9 other bloggers and families, got a chance to visit McDonald's corporate headquarters to find out more about the company, their food and Ronald McDonald House charities (F&B still talk about our Chicago trip). We got to work twice with Pop-Tarts to develop a recipe and video, we worked with Samsung, the NFL, Folger's, Similsan, Ragu, Juicy Juice, and more. Each time, we've gotten to offer a cool giveaway for my readers as well as try out a fun new product. There are always a variety of posts/giveaways to peruse.

I also love the Food section on BlogHer, and the featured posts. I admit, I have a hard time keeping up with a lot of the blogs I want to read. I try, but I always end up missing things. I use BlogHer as kind of a blog reader to highlight some of the awesome posts I know I'd miss along the way. I've found tons of recipes, fun ideas, hostess plans, etc, many of which I never would have seen without using the BlogHer feed.

I feel the same way about the various featured posts. I seriously loved this one--Dear Santa: A Parent's Un-wish List. It's hysterical and totally true, and probably one I would not have come across without the featured posts. I also love the glimpse into starting homeschooling, posted by a lovely blogger that I also got to meet on the aforementioned Chicago trip. There are many more--touching, funny, thought-provoking, that I keep coming back to read.

This week, in conjunction with this post, BlogHer is giving away a ticket to either BlogHer 2010 or BlogHer Food, winner's choice. Visit this week's Sweepstakes post on BlogHer.com to enter to win.

  1. I've signed up for BlogHer, but I'm afraid it's like Twitter to me- it's a tool I have no clue how to use. lol!

It's wonderful that you've gotten to see how RMH charities work- I've experienced them first hand through my son's hospitalizations. I think they are an underestimated positive influence on the families of children facing difficult medical procedures. Since staying at RMH Akron, I've been inspired to begin donating time, money, and whatever support I can to the other families who don't realize that there are places like RMH available.
