Crabby Croissants, Bento & Plated

You can't help but smile when you see these croissant crabs and they are perfect for a lunch, be it in a bento or on a plate!  These cute eye picks from All Things for Sale add the perfect touch to the crab's face with no work!  They also come in handy for adding faces to all sorts of other foods.

Mr. Crab is made out of a croissant, spread with fillings of choice.  This one was cucumber and herbed cream cheese, a favorite of Faith's.  I used two cucumber slices to make the claws, but any circular-ish fruit, veggie or cheese with a triangle cut out will work just fine!  Another sliver of cucumber made the mouth.  A dot of cream cheese holds the mouth in place, and two eye picks complete the crab.  We added some star fish cheese cutouts, a mini orange, and a Spongebob Gogurt featuring Mr. Krabs.  (I'm nothing if not thematic.)

Our crabby croissant also translates well into a bento box!  I chose a slightly different shaped croissant so it fit in the largest section of our Easy Lunchboxes.  Since this one went to school with Faith, it was filled with (I think) ham and cheese, and our star fish cheeses were made of cheddar.  We opted for a different Mr. Krabs Spongebob Gogurt, along with cantaloupe and cucumbers to round out the meal.
