#SpreadCookieJoy for Christmas with #MyKrusteaz

Christmas means cookie time at our house!

One of the MANY platters I've sent to the soldiers in my husband's unit,
late night project since he leaves for work crazy early

The kids and I always make several of our favorites each year--sugar cookies, reindeer gingerbread, and zebra bites for sure, plus several small batches of different kinds to get a good variety.  This year, our December California vacation definitely cut into our cookie baking days, but thanks to Krusteaz, we've got a plan!  We just have to have cookies and we need multiple flavors.

Late night cookie night!  (Also, my tablecloth rocks!)

Over the last week, we've been baking up a storm, with still a few more batches to come.  A few of the cookies are traditional recipes from my own childhood and we're rounding those out with some awesome mixes.  This year, we're baking Krusteaz' Shortbread, Gingerbread, Snickerdoodle, Butter Vanilla Sugar and Oatmeal Scotchie cookies along with some family recipes so everyone gets a little bit of something!  I'd much rather have smaller batches of lots of kinds of cookies.  I kind of have a cookie problem.

We also love to gift cookies to friends and neighbors!  My husband takes a plate of cookies to work every few days.  He's active duty military, so homemade cookies are *always* eaten.  We've also had a few Christmas parties to attend plus church activities, so we are definitely going through cookies.

Are you gifting cookies this year?  Here are a few of our favorite tips!
  • For family gifts, we try to do one cookie per flavor per family member.  Everyone needs to try the different flavors.
  • Mix and match traditional recipes with fun new mixes.  Krusteaz makes some of our favorite go-to mixes and they've even got coupons for you.
  • Shop your dollar store for pretty reusable plates and containers.  I bought a large platter I can refill for my husband's work, plus some cute decorative plates for other cookie gifts.
  • Invest in some decorative cellophane or wrap.  It's just pretty and you can add a bow.  I usually wrap a layer of plastic wrap first, but the outside layer has to be cute!
  • Don't forget the label!  I always include a note telling what the cookies are, in case of allergies or food preferences.
  • For a fun twist, bake New Year's cookies!  I've done New Year's cards and cookies on years that we have traveled.  No one minds fresh cookies and it keeps the holiday spirit going.
Ssssshhhhhh! I forgot to prep the dough for cutouts,
so I just made gingerbread drop cookies with a chocolate candy dot.

To make your New Year start out right, I've also got a great giveaway for you.  From Krusteaz, I'm giving away several of their mixes (2 each of Shortbread, Gingerbread, Snickerdoodle, Butter Vanilla Sugar and Oatmeal Scotchie cookies) plus some fun holiday baking items (apron, tote bag, cookie cutters, frosting decorating pen and a mason jar).  Who would you like to surprise with some yummy cookies for a sweet new year?  Just leave me a comment via the Rafflecopter below telling me who and you'll be entered to win.  Giveaway starts at midnight tonight.
