So Faith is still a little too sick to go to school. With her birthday on Saturday & her party on Sunday, I'd rather not take a chance that she doesn't get well for both of those.
So in that vein, I'll share my recipe for bourek (found in last week's lunches) instead.
1/2 lb ground beef
1 egg
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Salt
Pepper
Sheets of phyllo dough, thawed
Butter
Brown, drain and crumble the ground beef
In a separate bowl, mix the cooked beef with onion & garlic power, salt & pepper to taste, depending on preference for seasonings, then mix that with the egg.
Fold a sheet of phyllo dough in half longways to make a long skinny rectangle.
Scoop about 2-3 tsps of the ground beef mixture into one corner, then fold up to a triangle.
Fold over again to make another triangle, then another, till all the dough is folded over
Use water to dampen the edge to seal the dough
Place on a cookie sheet & brush with melted butter
Bake at 400 for 5 minute, then lower to 325 for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown
Very very easy and very very yummy!
