We're in Canada! Mostly hanging out & relaxing at my parents' house right now & recovering from the road trip. We'll have to plan some outings and whatnot this week for the kids.
I had to run a few errands, so decided to leave the kids a quick snack box so they would have something easy to grab out of the fridge. I discovered that the inner containers of the Laptop Lunch make for perfect little snack boxes.
The kids had a few crackers, deli turkey with piggie shaped old cheddar cheese, carrots, a cucumber, grapes and a couple of strawberries.
Perfect little afternoon snack, and I bought some cute new cutters while I was out shopping!

Looks like a full lunch for my 2 yr old! Sure does look good.
ReplyDeleteDo you think your son will like the little shapes etc when he gets older? My 10 yr old son abhors the thought of me doing shapes in his lunch..
I like the shapes in my lunch. Cute pig cheese! I would love it just like that! Of course my daughter (15) just puts up with it for my sake! :D
ReplyDeleteThat looks pretty tasty!

Cute piggies! Such a fun snack for the kids! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks adorable. My question is what you use for a background to take the pictures :) do you have certain table cloths or something?
ReplyDelete12x12 scrapbook paper! :o) As long as the box is small enough to zoom in well, it works. For a couple of bigger boxes, I use some spare fabric, but paper is easier.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the piggy cutter?? So cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the piggies!!! Looks like the perfect snack box :)
ReplyDeletePiggie cutter is from a little store near my mom's house (I'm in Canada right now).
ReplyDeletePlease blog about where you got your bento finds in Canada. I'm also from Canada but now live in Western NY so I go home often.
ReplyDeleteYou're probably close to where I am right now, my parents live in the Fort Erie area.
ReplyDeleteThe Dollaramas tend to have cute kid boxes (Dora, Diego, Spongebob, Strawberry Shortcake). I haven't seen them in Fort Erie in awhile but bought some in Niagara a few months back. They had some neat plain ones that were supposed to be for vegetables with a built in dip container that I bought for my kids. I'm going to use the dip container for yogurt and build the bento around it.
The Bulk Barn has awesome mini cookie cutters and just all around cute food items. They also had chickpea flour which I have really been wanting and a great selection of dried fruit for granola bars. The boxes I'm using in this post are from Laptop Lunches which are available in Canada, but I bought mine & my mom's in Dallas.
what kind of crackers do you use? my daughter is gf and I have yet to find a good cracker for her... and she LOVES them...
ReplyDeleteI can't remember what those crackers are, my mom picked them up. We're not GF though, so I don't have a great recommendation for those. I know friends of mine who are GF shop a lot at Whole Food & Sprouts for GF items.
ReplyDeleteLove the Bento Box idea! My daughter loves everything Japanese, so I'm sure she'll really enjoy this!
ReplyDeleteThank you Shannon for the bentos info. Yes, I am very close to your parents. I'm across the border 45 min south of Buffalo. I go through the Peace Bridge at Ft Erie to go home to Toronto all the time. The next time I go home to Toronto, I will definitely hit up Dollarama and Bulk Barns. Again, thanks alot for the info.
