Apparently, even with no one feeding them at the conference, people still don't bring their own food. Shaun mentioned that he was the only one who had food with him. Now, I know where the conference was, there's nothing but fast food nearby and lunch wasn't long enough to really go anywhere else. Needless to say, he got another lunch from home. I actually think he might have preferred it, he said he was able to just work through lunch and he had a morning snack to go with it.
Now after the first conference lunch, I got a little bit bored, so I had to decorate this one. ;o) It's almost football season!
He has two sandwiches, one turkey, one ham, on Nature's Own Multi Grain Sandwich Rounds (they are stacked on top of each other), and topped with a cheddar Longhorn! Yes, we really own a Longhorn cookie cutter, and yes, he does humor me, a lot. For the record, I also have one in the shape of the Alamo and another in the shape of Texas. The Longhorn is appropriately orange, with white cheddar horns & sugar eyes. In the same compartment, he has organic veggie straws from Sprouts; they are crunch like chips but a little better health-wise. On the upper right, he has zucchini bars and on the lower right, he has half a peach, strawberries & blueberries.
It's packed in one of our EasyLunchboxes. He also had another little box with grapes and a blueberry-cinnamon muffin for a snack, but no need to show you what a muffin in a box looks like! ;o)

This is awesome!! I firmly believe that grown ups can eat cute lunch too :-)
ReplyDeleteI started packing my husband bento lunches too. He was very clear that I was to add no shapes..... but I had to sneak in a little cheese heart I figured he wouldn't be teased too much for that!
ReplyDeleteI bet deep inside your hubby will love that longhorn staring at him! LOL I need to get my man on bento's - make him understand that it isn't just for kids!!! We love those "rounds" too - all of my family eats them -
ReplyDeleteHe's awesome about it. The kids' stuff doesn't phase him and a lot of times, he'll suggest stuff with the blog in mind. :o)
ReplyDeleteTee hee... my hubz has to work on weekends too. Good to know I'm not the only weekend bento-assembler.
ReplyDeleteLOL! My husband hides his lunch box in his desk drawer because his coworkers teased him about it. He's 37. I can't believe he cares! Cute lunch.
ReplyDeleteThis one's gonna be featured in my upcoming September newsletter Shannon! Love it!
ReplyDeleteShannon - I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't - in recent memory at least - eaten a fresh peach. Got some with our co-op haul this morning - any tips? Do they brown? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably not the person to ask, since I *had* to make peach fruit roll-ups last night with my overly soft peaches. ;o) But they definitely brown/get soft. They are so yummy, but they don't seem to last as long as other things.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! What a fun conference lunch :D
ReplyDeleteNew follower, and super excited to see your posts especially with school starting up!

where do you get your decorative plastic picks to hold the food together?
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDelete@Stacy, those ones are Wilton brand cupcake picks, they are called something like "send a message" or "add a message" and come in a pack of 12 with 4 colors/shapes.
adorable lunch for your husband!
ReplyDeleteif only conference food can be as lovely and yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love your Bevo bento. I can't get away with making my husbands food fancy.
