Some Husband Bento Lunches

Since I've had a few comments about wondering what I feed my husband, I took a few pictures of his bentos this week.

They are definitely less exciting than the kids' bentos, just simple food that will keep him full till he gets home. In advance, apologies for the pics! I had to take them as he was trying to leave in the morning, so I didn't have time to keep trying different lighting.

Let's see, this one has a sub sandwich on sun dried tomato bread--ham, turkey, turkey pastrami, pepperonis, mayo, couple kinds of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. To the right, he has a chef salad with assorted veggies (I want to say lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, mushroom, maybe carrots?). He also had a thermos of soup that day, a chicken tortilla soup. The box is a jumbo sized Lock & Lock I've had for several years. The two inner containers lift out, so it's perfect if you have an item that needs to be reheated.

This one has a turkey pastrami sandwich on multigrain rounds (as usual, other meats, cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato are all there too). He also took a thermos of homemade chili, a few pastries from the commissary bakery, and some honeydew that I was already cutting up for F&B's lunches. It's packed our Easy Lunchboxes (also available on Amazon).

In both cases, he's also been taking apples and peaches from the fridge, and who knows what other less than healthy snacks. I also made a batch of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies the other day, so those went along with him too.

I am highly amused though, the day of the Lock&Lock lunch above, he texted me from his training class that he was the envy of his peers. They all had to bring lunch. He had that. They were eating MREs. ;o)

  1. Thank you for the husband lunches! I bet all the guys are envious. My husband works in a school, but he's definitely turned heads with his bentos and tiffins.
