A Simple Bento and Meet Dante-Puppy!

As mentioned yesterday, Mr. Puppykins is keeping us kind of busy, which is making me a wee bit grateful for a freezer stash of food for the kiddos. Currently, I have both chili and corndog muffins in the freezer, and school will be out soon, so that should work perfectly to fill out the end of the year emergency meals.

So for a quick lunch, Ben had a chili muffin, along with carrots, strawberries and raspberries and two of his Star Wars cookies.  I think that's a Storm Trooper up top, and I can see Yoda's ears peeking out underneath.  I am completely fascinated with the Yoda cookies.

And since asked, this is Dante!

He is a 10.5 week old border-collie something mix.  We got him from a rescue in Denver, but he is originally from Oklahoma.  A rescue there found him and his three siblings on the side of the road at two days old, with their umbilical cords still attached.  They brought them into rescue and hand raised & bottle-fed them, and saved all four!

When they were 9 weeks, they patnered with a rescue in Denver to bring the pups to Colorado and we saw them online and fell in love with them.  We made the trek up to Denver two weekends ago and brought Mr. Dante home with us.  We find him adorable and full of fuzzy-wuzzy evilness.

  2. The muffins are easy! Make a corn muffin batter (your own or use a mix like Jif, along with the egg, milk, oil, etc) and add a couple of cups of leftover chili. I drain any extra liquid from the chili but leave the beans, meat, etc. Throw in a couple of handfuls of shredded cheese and bake for whatever the corn muffins need to bake for (it's usually around 400 for 15 minutes).

  5. Aww what a gorgeous puppy. It's so nice that you got him from a rescue. It makes me ill that anyone could leave innocent newborn pups on the side of the road to die. What a happy ending for him:)
