Oroweat Bread & Sandwich Thins - Review, Contest & Giveaway

Craving a delicious sandwich that is easy to eat whether you’re sitting poolside or driving cross-country this summer? Why not get in some whole grains while you’re at it? Oroweat Bread believes the foundation of a “better-for-you” sandwich starts with two flavorful slices of bread packed with so many whole grains you can actually see them!

We are picky about our bread too.  I love whole grain breads with the little seeds in them and the kids prefer sandwich thins for their lunches.  I also love the sandwich thins when it comes to decorating sandwiches for bento lunches; it's the perfect round canvas to start.  Plus, all bread has to be fresh and tasty and the right softness.  I told you we are picky!

We typically buy Oroweat breads here in Colorado because I know it's going to be exactly what I'm looking for.  They have my 12 grain, the kids' sandwich thins, and they have rye bread which I miss from back home.  I actually just bought a loaf for my breakfast toast, I'm going to hide it from the rest of the family.
Right now, Oroweat is hosting the "America's Better Sandwich" contest!  What healthful ingredients do you pair with delicious, whole grain bread?   Readers can submit their recipes at www.americasbettersandwich.com for the opportunity to win a grand prize of $25,000 – that’s a whole lot of dough! Additionally, the sandwich in each of the four categories with the highest overall score will receive a $5,000 Category Prize.

What am I making?  Remember that rye bread I mentioned?  I bought ham and swiss and I am going to enjoy every single bite (and not share).  This is the perk of being the mom and the blogwriter in the house.  It may not be the most creative sandwich ever, but finding good rye bread in Colorado has been a challenge and I'm going to enjoy a bit of comfort food today!

But I also have to feed the husband and son (the daughter is at a friend's house), so I'm making up some extra yummy ranch chicken salad to enjoy on Oroweat 12 grain bread.  Want the recipe?
1 large can of white chicken breast or one white chicken breast cooked
2 tbsp ranch dressing
2 tsp relish
3-4 tbsp mayo (to taste)

Run the chicken breast through your mini chopper until shredded well
Mix in relish and run through again.
Place in a bowl and add ranch & mayo, blend well.
Add more mayo as desired.
Place a large scoop on Oroweat 12 grain bread slice, spread, add lettuce and top with a second slice of bread!
Have you tried Oroweat breads?  I'm also giving away a prize pack to one lucky reader!  The winner will receive three $5.00 coupons for Oroweat® Sliced Breads, three $4.00 coupons for Oroweat® Sandwich Thins® Rolls, and a $25 Visa gift card to make your own favorite sandwiches!
