Yummy Kawaii Bento {Book Review}

Do you ever look at blogs and absolutely drool over their creations?

I totally do and one of my favorites is Bento Monsters, written by my friend Ming.  Her work is to die for and it is so beautifully crafted.  I want her to make my lunches--everything is just adorably perfect.

I was extra excited to check out her new book, Yummy Kawaii Bento, and see the tutorials for some of her awesome creations.  The book is a great mix of more traditional bento ideas and more "Americanized" ones, divided into sections on rice-based, bread-based, salad and noodle-based meals.  There's also dedicated sections for holiday bentos, seasonal bentos, and food art, along with plenty of her recipes.

The bentos themselves are broken into step by step photos of the assembly to help recreate the ideas, which range from novice to expert bento styles.  It's definitely possible to get started with bento using the book ideas!  A few of our favorites include the Hotdog Bread Buns, the Meatball Pasta Bear, and the Penguin Sandwich, but that's just the beginning.  Picking a few lunches just to give examples was very hard to do!  Faith and I will be very busy attempting to recreate these.

Even better, we have an extra copy of Yummy Kawaii Bento to give away to one of our readers.  If you'd like a chance to win, use the Rafflecopter below to leave me a comment telling me who you want to make these adorable bentos for!  For extra entries, you can tweet about the giveaway.

  14. I'd make these for whole family! For myself, because I love cute things. For my sister, since she always eats processed food. For my dad, who never eats his meals. And for my mom, a complete foodie.
