Today's Awesome Target Bento Find!!!

I stopped by Target today to pick up a few odds and ends. They were restocking the $1spot with school stuff (seriously, it's JUNE, don't we get to have summer first???). However, in my perusal of the area, I found these:

My mind immediately jumped to bento potential, so they were purchased and brought home (did you think I wouldn't?). I got one for my niece as well since my SIL has discovered my blog. ;o)

Anyhow, very cute, they are sandwich sized, but with creative packing, they look like they will hold quite a bit. They only had Cars & Princesses out, but they had other stuff like lunch bags, baggies, ice packs and some containers that reminded me of last summer's Gladware-like contianers that had Cars & Princesses, plus Hello Kitty and Spiderman.

Definitely check it out, very cute and all $1! It might be a good start if you are wanting to start bentoing for the upcomind school year.

Semi-bentos and a new recipe

Ben helped me make "corndog" muffins today. Personally, I'm in the camp of hotdogs not really being food, but Shaun and the kids don't agree. Occaisonally I humor them. Today was one of those days. For pictures of my little cutie cooking, pop over to my personal blog. He's just a bundle of cuteness!

Now, since my hand is still not healing (maybe because I'm still using it???), we opted for dishwasher safe plates instead of handwashable bentos. Right now, the less dishes, the better. F&B had corndog muffins, canteloupe, grapes, goldfish crackers adn teddy grahams. Honestly, not one of my better efforts, but it's a step up from taking them to Wendy's yesterday.

Ooh look, a lunch ;o)

Even though I am grievously injured, I sucked it up and made a lunch for my husband. OK, if you want to be really technical, I had to put the leftovers *somewhere* and it was just as easy to put them in his lunch container versus a regular storage container, but I digress. Grievously injured and still being a nice wife sounds much better (and hopefully will convince him that I need a housekeeper to come next week and vacuum, dust and do the kitchen floor).

Anyhow, he had leftover beef stew on top of rice (it's under there, really!), grapes and melon and assorted cookies. Nothing fancy at all, but infinitely better than a run to Taco Bell.

In case you don't read my personal blog ...

I seem to have damaged my hand playing softball last week. It's either badly bruised or broken, but I don't really want to find out, since I have to play softball this week.

Obviously, I'm not making bentos. ;o) I'm also not cooking or cleaning much either. I'm mostly whining about it and trying to figure out how to recover by Friday.

A Saturday Lunch for Shaun

It's been a busy few weeks. We've had company (my mom and her friend), Faith has had end of the year ballet and theater productions, and I've just been feeling rather lazy. Bentos have been few and far between.

On the plus side, Shaun finally found the Lock&Lock he lost a few months ago. On the negative, it's soaking in my sink, then going through the dishwasher about a million times.

He is wanting to eat lunch more at the office, takeout is starting to add up, so I was nice and send him a lunch today. The box is from Target's picnic section and was $2.99. The lid houses a fork and knife so even better.

He has a chef salad with boiled egg sliced into it, a BBQ pulled pork sandwich (cut in half so it fit in the box), a few KitKat singles, some vanilla cookies, and a little container with salad dressing.
