And too cute not to post

As you probably have noticed by now, F&B rarely make appearances on this blog. I try to keep it mostly lunch related and there is another blog just about our adventures in life.

However, as I was in my office today, taking pictures of the new supplies, Mr. Ben came in with a little tin Winnie the Pooh lunch box. He shows it to me and says "My bento, Mommy." Then he says "Open it!"

I open it up and he had packed his own little pretend bento to carry around the house with him. It is definitely worthy of a photo-share. :o)



Feel free to tell me how adorable he is.

And in case you were curious, the pretend food is a banana, a french fry, two cherries and a hamburger bun.

Some fun new supplies!

While out running errands today with Mr. Ben, he & I decided to stop into Minoya. I haven't been there in a few months, we haven't needed to stock up on much bento-wise and I can pick up most food stuff at the actual Oriental grocery. They had some neat new stuff in! The nice young girl working told me they can barely keep the bento stuff in stock, I wonder why? ;o)

Anyhow, I was good, Ben & I only spent $15 and some of it was on snacks for him.


Two new sets or rice molds--smaller shapes (star, heart, flower, triangle) and larger hear & flower. And some really great sauce bottles shaped like pickles, strawberries and a cherry. Love it!


A pretty new yellow box, band and matching bag. Not that any of us need one, but I really liked it and that is good enough.


And a new bento bag for Faith. Ben has a blue one almost identical to it and I had been hoping to eventually find a pink one for her. Ta da!

A Monday lunch for Faith

Yesterday, we went to see Madeline & the Bad Hat with my MIL, then she took us to Chili's for lunch. I had the little mini hamburgers and had some leftover, so I thought they would be the perfect addition for a bento. Just something a little different for a change and something I definitely can't make easily.


Faith had one mini hamburger, some carrot sticks, Teddy Grahams, canteloupe and grapes. She later told me that the hamburger was "so cool" because it fit in her box. 5 year olds are easy to impress. ;o)

Shaun's Sunday Lunch

Shaun typically doesn't take lunch, but occasionally, I make an exception. Today was an exception.


He had a Thai beef stir fry (which was leftover from Samui, I didn't make it), fresh rice, daigo and a little piggie of soy sauce because I think the piggie is cute. ;o)

The Daddy's Birthday Bento

Unfortunately for the girl, Daddy's birthday fell on a day she had to go to school. We had to promise her that, although Daddy was off, we wouldn't do anything fun until she got home. That said, we didn't do anything fun anyhow, one of us is in desperate need of a new car.


So for school, she took turkey & cheese faux sushi, carrot sticks & cucumber flowers, Teddy Grahams, and grapes & melons. Nothing exciting, but it's almost the weekend.

Monday's lunch with groceries again!

This weekend, I finally remembered that we have been out of cucumbers forever. And that we were low on melons. And grapes. And cookies. So I bought all those things.


Faith had cucumber flowers, carrot sticks, grapes & melon, vanilla yogurt, some heart sandwiches (and one bear) and a couple of cookies. My slightly weird child ate everything but the cookies. I love that!

A very late Friday lunch

I kept leaving my camera in the car. It is cold out there, hence, the camera stayed in the car and the lunch picture is late.


On Friday, Faith had cheese, crackers & pepperonis (hidden under the cheese), some carrot sticks, some grapes and some chocolate Teddy Grahams. I am pleased to report that she said that this was the perfect amount of lunch for her. ;o)

Monday Morning Lunch

I was smart and made this last night. :o) It's too hard to function on an early Monday morning. And besides, I had to go on a shoe hunt, there was no lunch making time. (For the record, shoes go in a bin in my closet, not on the toybox in the playroom, which is the last place I looked.)


Anyhow, Faith had the last of the pasta salad, some carrots, 3 little bear sandwiches, some strawberry applesauce (in the HK container), fruit kebabs and some koala cookies. Yum.

Friday's Combo

Last day of school for the week for Miss Faith. Wednesday was pizza day, so she had that instead. She also came hom on Monday and told me that one of her little friends (Jordan) really wants a bento box and that she (Faith) told her we would get her one. ;o) Thankfully, some of us overstocked on the Hello Kitty boxes in September so I really did have spares sitting around. Hopefully Jordan's mommy isn't going to hate me too much when she finds out what her little one wants for lunch in her new box. ;o)


Faith, however, took in the last of the quiche, a macaroni salad made with leftover mac&cheese and ham, canteloupe, carrots, vanilla yogurt and a few koala cookies. She must have been hungry, absolutely nothing came home and this is slightly more than I usually send.

She also reported that Jordan brought her lunch in her new bento too. ;o)

A New Monday Lunch

Since it is the start of a new week, I figured it was a good time to use out the leftovers in the fridge. And at least it made for a more interesting lunch.


Faith had homemade turkey & cheese quiche (see the two cute triangles on the left), some carrot sticks, grapes & canteloupe, vanilla yogurt, a granola bar and Yogos. I found this box in my office, so we decided to use it. Got to love the built in fork in the lid. ;o)

First Day of February Lunch

No Wednesday lunch, we had the 24 hour stomach bug, so there was no eating going on in our house much less bento-ing.


Faith is back at school today, so we opted for a smaller lunch just in case her stomach is still sensitive. She had a few bunny shaped sandwiches, Teddy grahams, vanilla yogurt (in the HK container) and some grapes & canteloupe. She ate it all, so I take that as feeling better.
