Happy Thanksgiving!

We're off school for the week, but wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

On the lunch note, save the turkey leftovers for muffins or kebabs, I'm taking containers to my ILs' house. ;o)

Shaun's Chamorro Bento

We had leftovers from his mom's birthday dinner, so Shaun turned them into lunch. Unfortunately, there was not enough potato salad left to share, so that stayed at his mom's house, but he made himself extras of a few things.

You'll have to excuse the spelling, you're lucky I know *what* this stuff is! Top is chicken kelaguin (chicken seasoned with lemons & hot peppers called doni?), bottom left is daigo (pickled yellow radish that is redone in vinegar, hot sauce and more doni), bottom right is mango, pineapple & grapes.

Faith's Finally Friday Lunch!

It's her last day of school till December 1st! She's off all next week for Thanksgiving, yay! We're hanging out at home mostly and puppy-sitting for a friend, but at least I can get out of my lunch rut by not having to make them. :o)

Today, she had an empanada (she wanted one after Ben had one on Wednesday), some carrot sticks, pineapple, grapes, mango, a few koala cookies and some peach yogurt. I was informed after the fact that she does *not* care for the peach yogurt and would prefer I send something else in the little container, like ranch for her carrot sticks. ;o)

I-think-we're-in-a-rut Wednesday

Seriously, I am just in a lunch rut all together right now. If it weren't for the fact that my kids can't buy lunches at school, I don't think I'd be making them. We seem to be stuck with the same few things again and I hate that.

However, we are off from school next week, so it's a chance to do some shopping and try out some new recipes and hopefully come back with something better after Thanksgiving.

Until then, Ben is taking an empanada, blueberry yogurt, blueberries & blackberries (they are frozen, not fuzzy!), some Koala cookies and some yogos that Faith gave him. I added a couple of carrot sticks after the picture, but forgot to take a picture of them too. So picture in your mind a few baby carrots.

Ben's Wednesday Lunch

It's festival time for my fourth graders and hot lunch day for Faith. Ben is doing good to have a lunch today. Thank God for a freezer stash of food.

Ben took a homemade quiche, a few goldfish, koala cookies, strawberry/blueberry/blackberry, and a side container of yogurt (not shown). The fruit & quiches were in the freezer, though I'm in need of whipping up a batch of quiche or muffins or something quite soon.

More Matching Mondays

Of course, the kids had to use the new Disney store bentos. I, in a not so brilliant moment, ran out of bread. And fruit. And, well, lots of other stuff.

Thankfully, in a more brilliant moment this summer, I bought tons of blueberries, blackberries & strawberries and froze them. That solved the fruit dilemma. And, it's always a good day for quesadillas. We had tortillas, not bread.

A question that arises every so often--why do we use white bread/white tortillas? Because Shaun & I dislike wheat bread, and F&B aren't too fond of it either. Frankly, the kids eat well and pretty much everything, so I don't think wheat bread is a hill I am going to choose to die on. And I'm not about to eat it. ;o)

Both kids had the same lunch--pizza quesadillas (I'm kind of out of meat too), some goldfish crackers, panda cookies, blueberries & a strawberry. In case you were wondering, the fruit is fine, it was just still frozen when I took the pictures!

A Disney Store Bento Find!!!

While Faith was at a birthday party, Benjamin and I headed to the mall to do a little shopping. In order to make him happier after being dragged into numerous clothing stores, I took him to the Disney store. What we found was exciting (OK, to me anyhow!). They actually have semi-bentos at the Disney store, not just tupperware like containers with snap on lids! They only had one boy pattern (Cars), but three girl patterns (Fairies, Prinesses and just Aurora). I let Ben get a Cars one and he picked Fairies for his sister.

They have a hinge snap lid and two removable divided sides, I love it!

Ben's new box!

Faith's fairy box

Inside of Faith's box

Removable dividers from Ben's

I think I paid $4 each, beats shipping cute Disney boxes from Japan!

The Wednesdsay-Friday PreK-1st Lunch

Why the long and somewhat bizarre title? Well, this was going to be Ben's lunch on Wednesday, but he ended up staying home sick. Since it was already packed (and it's not like I wouldn't have used the same refrigerated food for Faith anyhow), it became Faith's Friday lunch. However, she did have to take it in the Thomas bento, with the Shinkansen yogurt container & use the Ratatouille lunchbox. I wasn't repacking anything.

She had mini-pigs in a blanket, a granola bar, canteloupe & grapes and a side container of peach yogurt that isn't shown. She still ate it and did not even complain about all the trains on her container. ;o)

More Monday Lunches

I suck and completely forgot to upload these. We opted for simple lunches on the first Monday after Halloween, complete with a candy treat. Everyone needs a little chocolate right after Halloween.

Ben has dinosaur shaped sandwiches, pretzels, canteloupe, carrot sticks & a Twix bar!

Faith has almost identical--heart sandwiches, pretzels, canteloupe, carrots & a Twix bar.

If nothing else, *candy* must be equal!
