Again, no bentos, but I've got two more sites! ;o)
The Perfect Pantry - My friend Cindy emailed me this one, it's a food blog from a professional food writer and what she keeps in her pantry. Mine is rather pitiful in comparison but I'm loving the blog
Recipe Matcher - Now this site works if your pantry is like mine and you have about half the ingredients you really need. You plug in what you have and it gives you recipe ideas using those ingredients, thus eliminating the need to run to Kroger or SuperTarget halfway through cooking dinner!
And if you're curious, the festival was awesome! There will be pictures on my family blog later on. :o)

A couple of fun new sites!
No bento today, sorry.
Today was "take the kids out for pizza lunch", followed by "run around like a chicken with its head cut off to prepare for daughter's school festival". In case you were curious, I'm damn good at event planning and managed to secure many a food donation for the luncheon aspect.
But since I now have a few moments to breathe, I thought I'd post a couple of new sites I liked:
Food411.com - Lots of links for other great food sites, recipes, meal ideas, and places that deliver
Spatulatta - Found this one through Food411 and thought it was a really cool kids' cooking site, I'm going to have to get Faith to check it out some more with me tomorrow

Monday Morning Again
We're actually winding down towards the end of school. Faith has class today, a special event on Wednesday and another on Friday, the following week, she has 2 days of class left and a family picnic, then the next week, just an awards ceremony. I cannot believe Kindergarten is almost over!

Today, she took the leftover quiche from Saturday (cut into more manageable pieces), two teeny chocolate pieces (also leftover from Saturday, carrot & celery stick with dip (more Saturday), strawberries (and still more Saturday), and some koala cookies. Apparently, this would have been more aptly titled "Saturday's Playdate Leftovers Bento". ;o)

Friday's Late Lunch
I keep forgetting to bring my camera into my office, so I haven't been able to download the picture. It's quite easy to lose a very small camera in one's house.

Friday, we were on a clean-out-the-fridge mission, so Faith had a quesadilla (made from Thursday leftovers), some carrot sticks, blue/black/strawberries, some vanilla yogurt, and a little Nestle Crunch bar so I didn't have to open up a bigger pack of treats.

Monday's Lunch, but a lousy picture
Normally, in the mornings, I take a picture of Faith's lunch in my study. If I open the blinds and put on the correct lights, the picture is decent enough. This morning, she and Daddy were running behind, so I grabbed a photo in the kitchen. This is why I don't take photos in there. The lighting is lousy. And she was supposed to have pork dumplings but I didn't have enough time to steam them.

She took little pizza bites (because I could microwave those), sliced melon, carrot sticks, cheese cubes and Teddy Grahams. I'll have to wake up in time to steam the dumplings on Friday, and take a picture in a better lit room.

Finally Friday!
It's been a very long feeling week in our house, so finally, it's Friday. We also had clean-out the fridge Thursday, so I'm kind of short on food right now. Thankfully, we had a chicken stirfry and I was able to steal some chicken out of it for Faith's lunch.

She had chicken & cheese kebabs, goldfish crackers (the regular crackers did not fit in her box), teddy grahams and multi-colored fruit that I neatly chopped and separated by color. I'm not sure if my efforts were fully appreciated.

Monday's Masterpiece ;o)
OK, it's far from a masterpiece but it's more interesting than a sandwich. ;o) Today's experiment was how well would pizza rolls hold up in her lunch. Friday's steamed bun was not a success. She normally loves them, but I made the mistake of precooking it, then putting it in the fridge overnight. Faith said it was too hard and she had trouble biting it. I decided to cook the pizza rolls this morning and put them right into the box with no fridge involved.

It was apparently a success, she told me they were very yummy and not hard at all (got to love sarcasm from the 5 year old set). Anyhow, she had 4 of the little pizza rolls, lots of fresh melon, carrot coins with ranch dressing inside the little strawberry container and some Teddy Grahams & Yogos for a treat. It came home empty. Obviously some things just don't belong in a fridge.

Friday's New Lunch
I bought these buns awhile ago with the intention on putting them in Faith's lunch but promptly forgot about them. I pulled them about of the freezer last night and steamed one. Hopefully she likes it. Shaun commented that it smelled really good while cooking.

Faith has a steamed pork & veggie bun, carrot sticks (I'm out of all other veggies), strawberries/blueberries/blackberries, and some koala cookies. She also took yogurt for a morning snacks, but that wasn't cute enough to make the picture.

More Monday Kebabs
The Friday kebabs were a hit and I was hit with the request for more kebabs. The hard part was that the former were made with leftover turkey & ham that I cubed. I have no turkey or ham, so I improvised.

She had kebabs made with rolled up ham and cheese, crackers, slices of apples, slices of baby carrot (not for looks but because I couldn't cram them in the box in full form), and Yogos for a treat because she "really really really loves yogos".

Friday is Pizza Day
Well, not really, but we decided it should be!

Faith had a slice of pizza in her bento leftover from the other night. She also had carrots, orange slices, koala cookies and raisins. It was a hit, she told me she ate it all as soon as she got in the car.
