About BentoLunch.Net

I'm Shannon, army wife, mom to 2 young adults, living and loving life here in Colorado!

BentoLunch started in 2007 when my oldest was starting school and we needed cute, fun food she could eat quickly during lunchtime.

Over the years, it's cycled back around into quick, fun, easy lunches and snacks for our adult selves.

Top Picks

Giveaway #2 - Easy Lunchbox Set

I'm really excited for giveaway #2! Kelly from Easy Lunchboxes offered to send us a set to try out and see what we thought. Since we're quite big on trying new bentos, we jumped at the chance. I love the idea of a larger bento, since sometimes, we just need more food for things and the fact that the compartments are separate so certain foods can be kept away from others (no one like soggy crackers!). We've tried a couple of meals so far in them-- the mouse wraps the other day and last night's taekwondo bentos . F&B were able to open them without a problem and the plastic lids & containers are much sturdier than disposable ones. Even better, they are dishwasher and microwave safe! That's actually one of my biggest complaints about traditional bentos, I prefer everything to go in the dishwasher. Ben actually chose the olive green bag above and we were able to stack two containers in it, plus drinks. I also tried an empty third container and di...

Tips & Tricks for Healthy Eating

This is a sponsored post from Chef Boyardee and BlogHer. I often get comments on this blog regarding F&B and the choices they make regarding food. Thankfully, it’s usually good ones, either complimenting them when they are making the choices or asking how exactly we got them to that point. To our happiness, they’ve both loved food from the beginning. I made all sorts of baby foods for them, we’d go to Whole Foods, buy a variety of interesting looking veggies, cook till soft, then puree them to the right texture. Faith’s long time favorite was lentil stew—my own combination of lentils, squash, zucchini, carrots, beans, pretty much whatever veggies I had on hand. Ben has always been my fruit fiend. Other than banana, his first foods were fresh pineapples, mangos and melons on our Hawaii trip when he was six months old. Pirate bento for Ben--stuffed taco muffin, carrots, celery, grapes & berries But since then, I’ve come up with a few favorite ideas to get the k...

Mimi the Sardine Review & Giveaway!

I've been holding onto this lovely review/giveaway since June. Since the items are already at my house, I did not wish to run the giveaway when I knew I'd be traveling and thus have a hard time mailing it to the lucky winner! Pia at Mimi the Sardine sent a wonderful package for F&B to enjoy and us to share with a lucky blog reader. If you haven't heard of Mimi the Sardine , you must check them out! They make a wonderful line of organic kids (and a few adult) products for meals--table cloths, bibs, placemats, lunchbags, even aprons! Their materials are organically grown cotton, coated with an acrylic (non-PVC) finish to keep them soft and still easily cleanable. The patterns are to die for--bright florals, vehicles, jungle animals, stripes, polka dots, so many cute things. We were thrilled to find a cute lunch bag and placemats for F&B to try out. Faith is loving the Lunchbug bag! It's adorable and the monkey is perfect for my monkey girl, but flip i...
